I foster professional relationships with students and encourage open faculty/student interaction. Here is an example of how my classes begin: with a letter welcoming them and initiating interaction!

Example #2

I maintain a professional atmosphere that is conducive to learning. I also consider the academic and individual needs of each student, and when necessary, refer the student for additional assistance from other college services. I find Progress Reports to be one of the best tools to meet students' individual needs. I send out Progress Reports every semester to offer encouragement and refer students to resources (such as the LRC or DSPS).

Example #3

I respond to student communications when appropriate. My syllabus states that students can expect a reply within 24 hours during business days, and I also meet with students over Zoom or in person. I demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, gender, and other individual differences in interactions with students. For example, I allow them to customize their own research paper to maximize the diversity of topics and honor their individual backgrounds.

I want to thank you for such an enjoyable class!! All the literature you assigned was really intriguing and thought-provoking! I think they did an amazing job of challenging us to think outside the box. Oh, and also, I really appreciate all the dedication you took to giving us all feedback on all of our assignments. It really makes a difference when you're taking an online class. It also helped me view my final essay in a different light, and it allowed me to understand some of the concepts you pointed out so I could further analyze them in my essay.
