Sample Introduction to Literature Assignment

Field Trip to the Huntington Library

BEFORE THE TRIP: What We Are Doing In order to deepen appreciation of literature and the humanities, our class will be taking a field trip on 5/1/25 from 11 am - 2 pm to The Huntington Library! Research shows that students who feel connected to a class are more likely to succeed, and I hope you will also enjoy conversing with your classmates and yours truly. Please watch the video below and read the information above so you will be prepared to participate! What You Need to Do Fill out this waiver by this Friday night and email it back to me at [email protected]. You will not be allowed on property without it. You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the Huntington. It's a bit of a drive, but totally worth it to access this enchanting spot! If you're interesting in carpooling, please reach out to classmates in the Class Cafe (inside Discussions). The trip is required, but if you live outside the area or have extenuating circumstances preventing travel, please contact me for an alternative assignment. There's a cafe which we can visit depending on the needs of the group. Please eat before we meet, and consider bringing a snack and a small bottle of water. I'll be wearing a white hat, and I will meet you at 11 am by the outdoor bag check at the front entrance. Please allow time for parking, so arrive around 10:45 am. Here's the address: The Huntington Library 1151 Oxford Rd, San Marino, CA 91108 (626) 405-2100 We'll be walking a lot and will be both outdoors and indoors. Please wear comfortable shoes. If you need any special accommodations, email me asap. For more information, plan your visit here. If you submit a waiver but later can't make it, please notify me so we don't all wait for you! :) AT THE SITE: Instructions: As you tour the Huntington Library, complete the activities and questions below.
