Adherence to District Policies
I served on the SLO committee for several years, attended an SLO training workshop at Rio Hondo College, and worked with partners across departments to improve SLO creation and analysis. I understand the importance of SLOs to the college, and contribute timely data each semester. I strive to complete all program/college/district reporting deadlines and documents on time. For example, this semester I submitted my Office Hours and Committees Form early, before it was requested. I follow district and college policies and procedures when applying for and accepting grants and other instructional resources. I’m currently applying for conference funding so I can attend the AVID Summer Institute, and work within the system to secure resources as I've done for the numerous professional conferences I have attended. I teach classes during the scheduled time and at the assigned location. Sometimes, we venture outside since students especially enjoy learning outdoors! I meet workload obligations by regularly teaching a full load, completing FLEX hours, and exceeding the committee requirement of 16 hours/semester. I maintain regular office hours as required, and provide a copy of that schedule to the division dean each semester. I participate in curriculum development regularly. I served for years on the Curriculum Committee, and last year I led a Professional Learning Council studying Hybrid English 1A classes. I contribute to program review by reviewing part-time and full-time colleagues, and leading or attending departmental retreats where we reflect on our program and recommend changes. One example is a 7-hour retreat I co-led in Spring 2022, where we examined how to create a better sense of community in composition courses while teaching core skills (e.g. critical thinking, rhetorical knowledge). We invite students to these retreats as well so their voices can also be heard.
